Celebrating 25 Years of Battery Management Expertise

The ADVERC VS300 (Fig 1) is an in-line conditioning device, designed to eliminate problems to sensitive electronic equipment.

It achieves this in two ways. (See Fig 2)

Firstly, a passive input filter and transient suppressor very effectively attenuate voltage spikes caused by other equipment on the electrical system.

Secondly, a Low Loss regulator maintains the output voltage at 11-15 volts as set on the potentiometer. Where the input voltage is below the set output voltage, the output will equal the input voltage less 0.2 Volts.

Why use a Low Loss regulator? A conventional regulator requires between 0.5v and 2v across it to operate correctly. This means that, for low input voltages, of say 11v, the output voltage could be below 10v, which is not acceptable.

The unit should not be used with equipment requiring more than 10A continuous current.

However, as a further safety precaution, the unit will cut out if the temperature increases above 70°C, but will automatically reset when the unit has cooled.

Should the output connections be shorted or the input connections wrongly connected, the 10A fuse will blow. The unit will operate normally after the fault is removed and the fuse replaced.

The unit is fully sealed against dirt and moisture.

Technical Data

Specification:

12v (24v system available)

Input Voltage:

11-17 volts

Output Voltage:

11-15 volts adjustable

Output Current:

0-10 Amps continuous (max. recommended power dissipation 30 Watts)

Dimensions:

150mm long x 100mm wide x 55mm high

Features

Low Loss Regulation - Conventional regulators require up to 2v in order to function. The VS300 requires only 10% of this value.

Voltage Setting - The desired output voltage can be adjusted to the required level using the potentiometer provided and will be maintained unless the input voltage falls below this output setting.

Power Dissipation - The unit is protected by a 10A fuse, and is capable of dissipating 30 watts continuous.

LED Over-Load Indicator - When subjected to sustained loads in excess of 30 watts, any increase in temperature will automatically "cut off" the power to the system. This condition is indicated by the LED being on. Power is automatically reinstated as the unit cools.
